The City Council plans the comprehensive remodeling of some twenty streets and squares in the area surrounding the Orquidarium

The Consistory opens the contracting of the drafting of the project to revitalize the area with an intervention that will affect the entire area between the Botanical Park, Andalusia Avenue and the Plaza del Ajedrez.

The Estepona City Council has put out to tender the drafting of an ambitious project for the comprehensive remodeling of the surroundings of the Botanical-Orchidarium Park, Andalusia Avenue and Chess Square. The action, which will affect more than twenty streets and squares, includes the renovation of the pavement, landscaping, infrastructure and street furniture.

The deputy mayor of the area of Development, Infrastructures and Tourism (FIT), Ana Velasco, explains that this is an intervention aimed at the complete improvement of the whole set of streets comprising the scope of action, defined by the area of the Botanical-Orchidarium Park, Andalusia Avenue and the Plaza del Ajedrez, in an approximate area of 17,074 square meters.

The proposed works will consist of the renovation of the pavement, infrastructure, landscaping and street furniture, with the aim of modernizing and transforming this infrastructure that was executed more than three decades ago, to bring it into line with the urban improvement and transformation actions that are being carried out throughout the city.

The streets included in this project are Plaza Antonio Mingote, Maspalomas, Plaza de la Comunicación, Zurbarán, Hermanos Costaleros, Locutor Juanma Herrera, Salvador Dalí, Pasaje Cristo del Amor and Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, Gibraltar, Greco, Velázquez, Juan Gris, Cid, Híspalis, Ibiza, Sorolla and Miró.

The intention is to homogeneously renew the paving and furniture with noble materials and modern and efficient design elements, as well as a rearrangement of spaces, pavements, signage and signage. Another fundamental objective will be the replanting of vegetation and the planting of gardens and trees in the landscaped areas to be renovated in order to recover and beautify the existing vegetation.

The planned works also include the improvement of the sewage and water supply network with new sections adapted to current demands, new telecommunications infrastructure, improvement of the natural gas distribution network and the public lighting network, a new irrigation network and improvements to the electricity network.

The base bidding budget for the drafting of the project is 234,300 euros (VAT included) with a four-month deadline for submission of the project. Once the project has been drawn up, the tender for the execution of the works will be issued.

This intervention is part of an infrastructure plan in neighborhoods to be carried out by the City Council this year, which includes other actions in areas such as Plaza Fuerzas Armadas, Montemayor Street and Avenida Marqués de Duero in Cancelada.
