The City Council awards the works to extend the coastal corridor through the Matas Verdes area.

The company selected in the public tender has presented a 26% reduction in the price, and fixes the execution of the works in three months.
The Estepona City Council has awarded the works of the new layout of the coastal corridor that will extend the path through the eastern part of the municipality, specifically around Playa Baños-Matas Verdes. The work has aroused the interest of a dozen companies that submitted proposals to the tender opened by the Consistory. The most advantageous offer selected in the tender represents a reduction of 26% of the price initially set, and two months in the execution period.
This new section will have 575 meters long wooden walkway and will allow the extension between the Avenida de la Playa, to the west, and the Marriott’s Playa Andaluza. In turn, it will connect with the coastal sectors of Punta de Baños-Casasasola and Saladillo beach.
This new phase of the corridor was put out to tender with a base price of 782,106 euros (VAT included), and an execution period of 5 months. The selected company has presented as improvements a reduction in the price of 203,347 euros, being finally 578,758, 61 euros. It has also reduced by two months the term to execute the works, which remains in three months.
As in all the sections executed in the coastal corridor, the actions projected for this extension of the coastal corridor have the pertinent permissions. In this case, with the authorization of the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment of the Junta de Andalucía, which has reported favorably, also ensuring the protection of the entire environment.
As for the materials, wooden decking will be used on wooden structures, i.e., soft materials selected for their better adaptation to the natural environment. The promenade will be equipped with safety railings and lighting.
The Estepona City Council continues to work on the initiative to create a large coastal corridor connecting the entire coastline, which is already 92% complete. With this new section that has just been awarded, the recently inaugurated path in the area of Benamara and the study of the projects for the new sections to be conditioned in the areas of Bahía Dorada and Atalaya, the Consistory continues to promote this infrastructure that has managed to vertebrate the entire coast of Estepona.
