The City Council opens the call for the IV Sports Merit Awards to recognize the best local sportsmen and sportswomen of 2024

The Consistory will support with 22,000 euros to sportsmen and sportswomen registered in the city who have obtained good results in official competitions.
The City Council of Estepona has announced the fourth edition of the Sports Merit Awards, through which 22,000 euros will be distributed among athletes registered in the city who have obtained results in any of the official competitions of 2024, in the various modalities recognized by the Superior Sports Council.
The councilman attached to the area of Sports, Luis Gil, announced that this year has increased the amount of these awards with the idea of consolidating this initiative and continue to offer our athletes more means so that they can continue to increase their technical level, contributing to the progression of performance and consolidation of high-level sport and competition at regional, national and international level.
As established in the rules of this call, may be awarded the athletes who are registered in the city since at least January 1, 2024; who have a license in force of any Andalusian or Spanish sports federation since January 1, 2024, in the sport in which results are presented; and who perform a competitive sport of any sport specialty that is Olympic or is recognized by the Consejo Superior de Deportes.
Three award categories have been established: runner-up of Andalusia; champion of Andalusia or runner-up of Spain (or higher: Europe, World or international competition); and champion of Spain or higher: Europe, World or international competition.
Those interested can consult the rules on the Notice Board / Edicts of the website of the City Council, where you can also download the application form and see the documentation to be attached and the different ways through which you can submit the application. The deadline for submission will be open until June 30.
In the last edition, these economic awards were given to a total of 42 athletes, thus rewarding their efforts to remain in the sports elite and for their contribution to the promotion of Estepona.
