Estepona will receive brotherhoods from all over Spain as the venue for the XL National Pilgrimage of Brotherhoods of the Vera Cruz.

The brotherhood esteponera organized, with the collaboration of the City Council, this event and the XXVII Meeting of Young Cruisers. It is estimated that both events will bring together around a thousand people between 26 and 28 September.

Estepona will receive next September to brotherhoods from all over the country as the venue for two important events: the XL National Pilgrimage of Brotherhoods and Confraternities of the Vera Cruz and the XXVII Meeting of Young Crusaders. These are two events of great importance for the various brotherhoods and fraternities, which each year is held at a point in the country, and that this time can bring together a thousand people in the city.

The mayor, José María García Urbano, along with the elder brother and spiritual director of the Brotherhood of the Vera + Cruz of Estepona, Francisco Aguilar and José Carlos Huete, respectively, have presented the program of events organized on the occasion of these events, which will take place between 26 and 28 September.

The alderman thanked the work done by the brotherhood to ensure that Estepona can host this pilgrimage and the national meeting of young cruisers, in a year in which the City Council is also committed to youth. It has also stressed the importance of these events, which will bring together in the municipality to hundreds of people who will have the opportunity to learn about a hospitable city, with great quality of life and many attractions.

From the brotherhood Esteponera has emphasized the importance of these meetings, not only as acts of faith and devotion, but also as events that promote cohesion and twinning between the various brotherhoods and fraternities of the Vera Cruz. At the same time, they have indicated, the pilgrims will be able to verify the fervor that our city has to the Most Holy Christ of the Vera Cruz.

Although the inscriptions of the brotherhoods and confraternities interested do not open until tomorrow the 15th, the organizers expect to receive between 800 and 1,000 people.

The project defended by the Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of the Vera+Cruz of Estepona was selected last year after competing with two localities of Seville.

The program designed for the celebration of this pilgrimage has for the moment, with a wide range of fraternity activities among the visiting brotherhoods, but also with events aimed at publicizing the many attractions of Estepona. Thus, the calendar will begin with a special event to be held on Friday 26 at the Mirador del Carmen. In addition, that same afternoon there will be a visit to the Patroness of the city, Our Lady of Carmen Coronada. The visit to the Santísimo Cristo de la Vera+Cruz de Estepona in the Parish of Los Remedios and the brotherhood house will close the first day.

For Saturday 27th, different visits to points of interest such as the Parish of Los Remedios, the Sacred Titulars of the Brotherhood of the Vera+Cruz of Estepona, the Archaeological Museum, the Orchidarium, the old town, the castle of San Luis and the image of the Patron Saint of Estepona, San Isidro Labrador, are planned. In the afternoon there will be a round table entitled ‘Same feeling and faith, but different ways of being cruise’, and the concert ‘The music in our processions’, with the participation of the musical groups Jesus Cautivo and Remedios and Vera Cruz Music Band.

This Saturday will be joined by the participants in the meeting of young cruisers.

The last day will feature the Pilgrim’s Mass, which will be officiated at 10.00 am on the Avenue of Spain. The transfer to the parish will be at 11.30 am. The pilgrimage will conclude with a lunch of brotherhoods and sisterhoods at the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses.

In addition to these important meetings, the Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of the Vera+Cruz, Our Lady of Sorrows, Holy Shroud, Holy Burial of Jesus, Our Lady of Solitude and St. John the Evangelist of Estepona is celebrating this year the 25th anniversary of the Virgin of Solitude. The image will receive the Medal of the City and its name will be given to a public space in the town, as recently approved by the Plenary of the City Council.
