The City Council will decorate the president of the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters, the Royal Cavalry of Ronda and police commanders on the Local Police Day

The institutional event will take place this Sunday 28th at the Felipe VI Auditorium.

The City Council of Estepona will celebrate this Sunday the institutional act on the occasion of the Local Police Day in which, once again, various awards will be presented. Among the decorations include the Medals for Police Merit with white badge. One of them is awarded to the president of the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters and vice president of the Provincial Council, Manuel Marmolejo. Likewise, the Royal Cavalry of Ronda will be recognized as an institution.

Throughout more than three decades of service, Manuel Marmolejo, who also chairs the Spanish Firefighters Association (CONBÉ), has demonstrated a firm commitment to citizen protection and the strengthening of essential security and emergency services. It has favored coordination between administrations, promoting common projects and supporting initiatives that have had a direct impact on improving the safety and well-being of society. Within this framework of cooperation, there has also been coordination with the Local Police of Estepona in emergency services when circumstances have required it, reinforcing the necessary joint efforts for the benefit of citizens.

His management skills, his strategic vision and, above all, his vocation of service, have made him a reference in the field of security and civil protection that is recognized with the Medal of Police Merit with white badge, as a symbol of recognition of his career, his commitment to public safety and the values that dignify the service to society.

Estepona and Ronda have been historically united by geography, trade and the common defense of the Serrania. Today, those roots find in the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda an institution that not only protects the collective memory, but also strengthens the present and future ties between these municipalities, projecting a spirit of collaboration and brotherhood. For all this, and in recognition of its exemplary career, its tireless contribution to culture, education and social cohesion, and the values of service and shared responsibility that dignify our institutions, the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda will also receive the Medalla al Mérito Policial con distintivo blanco (Medal of Police Merit with white badge).

The City Council will present another of these medals to the National Police Inspector Miguel Ángel Gutiérrez Blanco. Since 2021 he is the head of the Heritage group, under the Local Brigade of Judicial Police. His work has been characterized by the efficiency in the investigation, the commitment in the fight against crime and, especially, by the permanent collaboration with the Local Police of Estepona. As a result of this close institutional relationship, numerous joint operations and service coordination have been carried out, always in a climate of respect, closeness and loyal cooperation between police forces.

Lieutenant Colonel of the Civil Guard Manuel Ovidio Corredor Sánchez will also be recognized. Beyond his service record, which includes responsibilities in the deactivation of explosives, in maritime security units and in international missions of great relevance under the protection of the European Union and international police cooperation agencies, he has always maintained close ties with the Local Police of Estepona, his city of residence. His availability, his international experience and his professional generosity have been a valuable support for the Local Police, complementing their daily work and providing a plus of efficiency in improving security.

Another Medal of Police Merit with white badge is awarded to Salvador Gil Ocaña. As head of the cleaning and solid waste collection service of Estepona, his relationship with the Local Police of Estepona and with the rest of the municipal employees has always been exemplary, marked by a constant predisposition and a close treatment that inspires respect and appreciation. He receives this tribute for his dedication, effort and human quality.

The Estepona City Council will also award the Police Merit Medal with different white to the following officers of the Local Police of Estepona: Francisco Javier Avila Navarro, Juan Carlos Illescas Guillen, Jose Manuel Lopez Calderon, Jose Luis Maldonado Troya, Juan Alberto Melgar Guerrero, Antonio Gonzalez Fernandez,

Also, during the institutional act chaired by the Mayor, José María García Urbano, which will take place at 13.00 hours in the Felipe VI Auditorium, other distinctions will be awarded to the Local Police officers and public congratulations will be made for meritorious interventions.
