The City Council will allocate 180,000 euros in financial aid to social groups in 2026

The Mayor chaired today the meeting of the Local Council of Volunteers to learn about the proposals and needs of the non-profit associations that provide services in Estepona.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today chaired the Local Council of Volunteering to learn about the proposals and needs of non-profit associations that provide services in the city.
During the meeting, the groups have been informed that the City Council will allocate an item of 180,000 euros in the municipal budget of 2026 in direct aid to charities that develop their work in Estepona. In this regard, the alderman has pointed out that the municipal accounts for next year will continue to have a strong social character, setting as one of its priorities the attention of the most vulnerable people.
In this regard, he thanked the various associations for the work they do with the most vulnerable people in the municipality, and noted that municipal aid contribute to these care programs can continue to develop.
García Urbano stressed that the protection of the most needy will continue to be an objective of the Consistory, so that the economic amounts linked to aid and social programs will continue to be “expandable items” in the budget of 2026, if circumstances so require.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the associations that will benefit in 2026 from these aids are: Asociación Pro Discapacitados Psíquicos (APRONA), Cáritas Diocesana, the association of disabled people (ASDIES), the association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s patients of Estepona, Red Cross Estepona, Parkinson Sol Estepona, the Multiple Sclerosis Association, the Local Platform of Volunteering, Asociación Frente Bolillón, Asociación Víctimas Autismo y otras enfermedades de Estepona, Estepona Solidaria, the Women’s Association Peñas Blancas, Estepona Cultural Music Association, Sports Association Motoclub Ondevamos, Estepona Rehabilitated Alcoholics, the Mental Health Association (AFESOL), the association Alejandro Navarro, Spanish Association for the Fight Against Cancer, Adfia Breathe Association, Association Huellas con Corazón and the association Paula and the Marrow Factory, as well as the various brotherhoods and fraternities of the municipality.
In addition to financial aid, the mayor has referred to the support provided by the Consistory in other matters, such as collaboration in solidarity events organized by these entities and the free transfer of municipal facilities for holding charity events, in addition to tax support.
Also, among other measures, the Consistory continues to pay the Telecare service and allocates more than 300,000 euros per year to cover ordinary expenses (electricity, water, electricity or cleaning) of entities such as the Virgen del Carmen Nursing Home, the soup kitchen Emaus or the Association for the Mentally Handicapped of Estepona (APRONA).
