The City Council reinforces the budget allocated to public safety to expand and modernize the human and material resources of the Local Police.

The 2026 municipal accounts include nearly 13 million euros to increase the number of officers, telecommunications, new police vehicles, traffic control cameras, and the refurbishment and renovation of the police headquarters.

The Estepona City Council will allocate next year to public safety about 13 million euros. This is included in the municipal budget for 2026, which includes, in addition to the maintenance of the current staff and resources, an increase and modernization of resources, which will benefit residents and visitors.

The public safety program designed by the local Executive is reinforced in the new budget, which includes 12,899,043.04 euros, in a new investment effort to further expand the workforce and provide it with more resources. In this sense, the City Council has planned to convene new positions for agents, which will be added to the more than 60 incorporated since 2011, and to those who pass the two selection processes that are in development for a total of 17 Local Police positions, corresponding to the Public Employment Offer of 2025.

Together with the reinforcement of agents, next year’s Budget contemplates two important actions. On the one hand, the rehabilitation and integral reform of the facilities of the Local Police Headquarters and the gymnasium, with an allocation of 1.2 million Euros.

In addition, it will allocate another million euros for the acquisition and installation of traffic control cameras, which have given such good results for the reinforcement of security in terms of road traffic in our city. The Consistory will soon put out to tender the contract for the supply and installation of more than a hundred devices that will be integrated into the visualization, monitoring and traffic control system launched in 2023. This intelligent camera system was once a pioneer in the province due to the type of technology used.

The municipal accounts continue to invest in more resources for the development of the work of the agents, with a forecast of 60,000 euros for the purchase of new vehicles for Local Police and for members and volunteers of Civil Protection, who perform important work in the city.
