The City Council completes the first phase of lighting installation in the coastal corridor and outskirt roads

This action has included the installation of LED-type luminaires and solar streetlights on 11 access roads to housing developments and in 15 areas of the coastal corridor.
In addition, the works of a second phase to install lighting in 13 more roads have already been awarded.
The Estepona City Council reports that it has executed the first phase to provide new lighting to roads on the outskirts and sections of the coastal corridor. This is an ambitious intervention program that aims to provide these spaces with lighting in a way that prioritizes energy efficiency, so it has opted for both solar streetlights and LED type luminaires.
Specifically, this first action has included the installation of luminaires in 11 access roads to urbanizations of Estepona as Isdabe, Cortes, Sun Beach, Avenida Flamenca, Boladilla, Nicola, Alberdina, La Cala, Monterroso, Guadalobón and Arroyo Vaquero, with the aim of creating adequate conditions of visibility and safety for pedestrians. These works have involved an investment of 444,407 euros (VAT included).
Regarding the coastal corridor, the municipal responsible has reported that the installation of streetlights powered by photovoltaic system has also been completed in 15 areas, such as El Saladillo, Villacana, Hotel Ikos, Guadalmansa, El Velerín, Dominion Beach, El Castor, El Cristo, Doncella Beach, Hotel H-10, Guadalobón, Elba, Arroyo Vaquero, Arroyo Vaquero, Elba, Elba, Arroyo Vaquero, Arroyo Vaquero and Arroyo Vaquero. Elba, Arroyo Vaquero, Horizon Beach and Buenas Noches. A total of 520 streetlights have been placed and an investment of 437,684 euros (VAT included) has been made.
Also, the deputy mayor of the area of Services and External Control, Blas Ruzafa, has announced that they have already been awarded the work of a second phase, which includes the provision of lighting in 6 streets of the suburbs, which are the streets Rosalia de Castro, Vereda de los Frailes, Camonila, Menta, Aloe and El Velerín; plus 7 other roads, such as Calle Caserío, Tolox, Alquería, Quintana, Masía, urbanization Cortijo Casareño and Padre Luis García Cerezo.
The mayor stressed that public lighting represents an important fraction of electricity consumption of public entities, hence the need to increase energy efficiency in this area in order to reduce the demand for electricity.
