The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today presided over the inauguration of 7 new Local Police officers. In this way they join the staff of the Headquarters that has been reinforced with various public employment offers in recent years to reach 60 positions covered since 2011.
The alderman has congratulated them for successfully completing the internship period they completed after the approval of the competition corresponding to the Public Employment Offer (OPE) of 2024, and has reiterated the importance of security in the city, so it has encouraged them to maintain the spirit of public service that led them to study and prepare to be members of the Police Headquarters of Estepona.
García Urbano recalled that the City Council is currently holding open two other public calls for employment that will involve the incorporation of 17 other agents to the staff of the Local Police.
Since 2011 the City Council has been approving public employment offers with Local Police positions with the idea of strengthening the police force through various public calls. A total of 60 positions have been filled. The commitment of the Consistory is to continue reinforcing the Local Police until all the existing positions in the staff are covered, carrying out these procedures following the maximum public contracting allowed by the Central Government.
In addition, the municipal budget for 2026, approved in the plenary session last month and which will come into force on January 1, includes budget items for new public calls for employment that allow to continue providing human resources to the Police Headquarters of Estepona.
