Juan José Durán and Julie Balcarova win the XXV Villa de Estepona Triathlon
More than 240 triathletes participated in the race that ends the XXIII Provincial Triathlon Circuit Diputación de Málaga.
On Sunday July 30 was held in the town of Estepona, Malaga, the XXV Triathlon Villa de Estepona. The race started at 9:00 am from the central Playa de la Rada. From there, the more than 240 participants faced a sprint distance triathlon of 750 meters swimming in open water, 20 km cycling and 5 km running.
The race, organized by the City of Estepona, with the collaboration of the Estepona Triathlon Club, the Provincial Council of Malaga and the Andalusian Triathlon Federation, was the 7th and final point of the XXIII Provincial Triathlon Circuit Diputación de Málaga.
In the men’s competition the winner was the Esteponero Juan José Durán, Isbilya – Sloppy Joe’s, with a time of 1:00:47. Second place went to Bruno Raso, from Malaga, Tritrain4You Malaga, who entered the finish line just over a minute and a half behind Durán. The third step of the podium was occupied by Antonio José Aguilar, local athlete of C.T. Tiburones de Estepona – Achedosol.
The winner of the women’s race was the Czech international Julie Balcarova, from ADSevilla. Balcarova made a spectacular cycling segment in which she managed to get away from her rivals to make the last stretch of the run completely alone, obtaining the victory in 1:10:27. The second position was for Marina Castro, from Marbella, from ADSevilla, who was more than 3 minutes and a half behind the Czech. Third place went to Sonia Vázquez, also from Marbella, from Montilla-Córdoba Triathlon.

Presenting the prizes to the winners were Paula Herrera, Deputy Mayor of the Sociocultural Area; Daniel García, Councillor for Sports of the City of Estepona; and Manuel Raigón, Director of the Port of Estepona, sponsor of the event.
