The City Council expands the network of cardioprotected municipal spaces in the suburbs to attend to people with cardiac arrests

In addition to a defibrillator in the mayor’s office of Cancelada and in the Cancelada soccer field, the Consistory has installed another device in the neighborhood association San Cristóbal de Nueva Atalaya.

These devices allow to attend to people with heart attacks while waiting for the arrival of emergency medical services.

Estepona City Council reports that the municipal network of cardioprotected spaces is expanded in the suburbs with the installation of a defibrillator in the neighborhood association San Cristobal de Nueva Atalaya.

The deputy mayor of the area of Personnel and Human Resources, Ana Vilaseca, explained that technicians of the Consistory have offered a training course to residents of this group and the environment so that they can use this device in case of health emergency.

This defibrillator is in addition to the other two that are in the suburbs, in particular, in the mayor’s office of Cancelada and Cancelada soccer field.

The municipal responsible has indicated that the city currently has a total of 26 cardioprotected spaces such as the Mirador del Carmen, the new town hall, the Municipal Geriatric Office, the municipal delegation of Tourism or the facilities of the Provincial Board of Revenue.

There are also defibrillators in the municipal stadium San Fernando, the sports pavilion ‘La Lobilla’, the municipal stadium Francisco Muñoz Pérez, the Santo Tomás de Aquino and Carmen sports centers, the Athletics Stadium, the mayor’s office of Cancelada, Radio Television Estepona, the Fair, Sports and Leisure Park, the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, and the Local Police Headquarters.

In addition, the municipality has a total of 7 mobile defibrillators, 3 in Local Police vehicles and 4 in Civil Protection vehicles. For the correct use of these devices, the Consistory has trained all the agents of the Local Police and Civil Protection. In addition, in each municipal unit there are also employees responsible for the use of these devices, in total about 200.

The installation of these 26 defibrillators in public buildings and facilities assures users that these spaces meet all safety requirements. In the event that it is necessary to use the device, it will not replace the health workers; rather, it will allow the person with a heart attack or heart problem to be attended to while a doctor and emergency services arrive on the scene, offering assistance that can be crucial while awaiting the arrival of the emergency health services.

Likewise, the City Council continues to train all municipal personnel in the use of these systems that allow stabilizing the affected persons while the medical teams arrive.
