The City Council will award 10,000 euros to the best voices of Estepona

Those interested in participating in this new edition of the ‘Estepona Crea’ contest may do so until December 31.

The Estepona Town Hall will award the best amateur voices of the city in the new edition of the artistic contest ‘Estepona Crea’.

In this edition, prizes worth 10,000 euros will be awarded to singers whose main professional activity is not yet the music and who are registered in Estepona.

In this way, culture and art will be promoted and encouraged among young people and children with artistic interests and musical talent.

The Consistory has established two categories for this contest. On the one hand, children up to 13 years old can participate in the children’s category, and on the other hand, the youth category is established for young people between 16 and 25 years old. These ages must be reached on the day the contest is held, which will be April 20, 2024.

The contest has a cash prize of 10,000 euros, to be distributed as follows, for each of the categories: First prize: 2,500 euros + trophy; Second prize: 1,500 euros; and Third prize, 1,000 euros. In addition to the cash prize, each of the first prize winners will receive a sculpture of the Venus of Estepona, sculpted by local artist Juan Miguel Quiñones.

Registration for the contest is free and will be done exclusively online. To do so, applicants must send an e-mail, before December 31, 2023, to esteponacrea@estepona.es, together with their personal and artistic data. There they must include the scenic proposal, as established in the rules.

After this deadline, the jury, which will be composed of people of recognized professional, intellectual, cultural and artistic prestige, appointed by the municipal delegation of Culture, will make a non-presential selection of participants who will go to the final phase, to be held in person on April 20, 2024, in the Felipe VI Auditorium.

After the gala performances, the jury’s decision will be announced and will proceed to the award ceremony ‘X Estepona Crea 2024’ to the winners.

The ‘Estepona Crea’ Contest was launched in 2015 with the aim of promoting and encouraging culture and art among young people in the city. Periodically, different modalities have been established; the first year, Painting and Dance; in 2016 the modalities of Music and Literature were awarded; in 2017, Theater and Photography; in 2018, Audiovisual Creation and Sculpture; in 2019 and 2020, special competition Estepona Crea Kids, dance and voice, and dance, respectively; in 2021, Composition for Symphonic Band, on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the founding of its Municipal Band (1940-2020); in 2022, Lyrical Song; and in 2023, “Video Mapping”.
