In this way, this cultural initiative reaches fifty works scattered around the city, generating a large outdoor library. This project is also configured as another tourist attraction, which allows to bring the world of letters to neighbors and tourists passing through the city.
García Castro is the author of the poetry book ‘Balada del viejo bunk y otros’ and the booklet ‘El engorroso plumaje del colibrí espátula’. The author was awarded the ‘Estepona Crea 1998’ Poetry Prize.
Recently, this Poetry Route has grown with the verses of Juan Antonio Bernier, winner of the I International Poetry Prize ‘Ciudad de Estepona’ with his work ‘Fruto Previo’; as well as with a poem by Jaime Siles, member of the Poetic Group of the ‘Novísimos’ and president of the jury of the II International Poetry Prize ‘Ciudad de Estepona’. They have also recently incorporated works by the poet and writer Alejandro Simon Partal and local author Antonio Rios.

To the Poetry Route are added other initiatives in this area as this literary poetry contest, one of the most important of the national scene; the Novel Prize ‘Ciudad de Estepona’; the contest Estepona Crea and the Route of Murals of Estepona.
It should also be noted that the city has spaces created to promote literature such as ‘The Garden of Andalusian Poets’, which pays tribute to a dozen creators, and ‘El Rincón de la Saeta’, dedicated to Antonio Machado.
