The City Council will celebrate Carnival with a carnival market, the traditional costume contest, and “comparsas” and “chirigotas”.

The Plaza del Ajedrez will host from February 9 to 11 craft and food stalls, chirigotas, children’s party, contests, fire show, toy library, troupes, circus, archery show and workshops.

The Estepona Town Hall informs that the Chess Square will host during the 9th, 10th and 11th of February different activities to celebrate Carnival.

This year there will be a Carnival Market that will feature craft and food stalls. This public space will also be the stage where we can enjoy chirigotas, a children’s party, contests, fire show, toy library, troupes, circus, archery shows and workshops.

The planned program is as follows:

Friday 9:

– 17:30 hours: Official opening of the Carnival Market. Parade and performance of the charanga ‘Ponte una Milnoh’, stilts, hoops …, with departure from the traffic circle of the European Union to the Plaza del Ajedrez.

– 18:30 hours: Performance by the charanga ‘Ponte una Milnoh’.

– 20:00 hours: Children’s workshop, face painting and interactive tent.

– 21:00 hours: Music and atmosphere in the Plaza del Ajedrez. Tour of Paradas.

Saturday 10:

– 11:00 a.m.: Opening of stalls of the Carnival Market.

– 11:30 am: Great Interactive Toy Library, with tables of ingenuity and cooperative games for the whole family.

– 12:00 hours: Children’s Party ‘CHIQUI POP’, with the performance of an Animation Group, and costume parade for the election of Adult NINFA (100 euros) and Child Nymph (100 euros), Adult MOMO GOD (100 euros) Child MOMO GOD (100 euros), BEST ADULT COSTUME (100 euros), BEST CHILD COSTUME (100 euros) and BEST GROUP COSTUME, formed by participants of any age (300 euros).

– 14:00 hours: Performance of COMPARSAS AND CHIRIGOTAS.

– Comparsa de La Linea: ‘LA MONEDA. Direction, Daniel Morales Lebrón; lyrics, Fco. Javier Morales Ortega; and music, Ricardo Puyol González.

– Chirigota of Estepona/San Pedro ‘MARÍA DEL MONTE’. Direction, Alberto Benítez Láinez; lyrics, José Miguel Mata del Río and A. Benítez Láinez; and music, José Mata del Río, A. Benítez Láinez and José Juan Pastrana Fernández.

– Comparsa of Marbella: ‘LA JOYA’. Direction, Antonio Quiñones ‘Nono’; lyrics, Andrés Benítez; and music, Antonio Quiñones ‘Nono’.

– 18:00 hours: Traditional ‘ENTIERRO DE LA SARDINA CON LAS PLAÑIDERAS’ at La Rada beach (Correos area). The procession will leave from the Plaza del Ajedrez.

– 20:00 hours. The party continues in the Plaza del Ajedrez, with a Children’s Workshop Pintacaras.

– 21:00 hours: Show with ‘Martini Circo’.

– 21:40 hours: Fire Show.

– 22:00 hours: Music and atmosphere in the Plaza del Ajedrez. Tour of Paradas.

The Estepona Town Hall encourages everyone to participate in costume as a group or individually, thus giving more joy and color to the Carnival.

Sunday 11:

– 11:00 a.m.: Opening of stalls of the Carnival Market.

– 11:30 am: Great Interactive Toy Library, with tables of ingenuity and cooperative games for the whole family.

– 12:30 hours: Circus workshop for kids; a space where children can try different juggling and circus elements, feeling like real artists.

– 1:30 p.m.: Acrobatic fabric show. “La Pluma”, with the company ‘La Galerna’.

– 14:00 hours: Hoop show with Manuela del Aro.

– 16:30 hours: Children’s Masks Workshop.

– 18:00 hours: Children’s Soap Bubbles Workshop.

– 19:00 hours: Hoop Show with Manuela del Aro.
