The City Council carries out repair works to put an end to water leaks in the La Lobilla pavilion.

The work, which has been underway since the beginning of the week, will allow the cleaning and waterproofing of the perimeter gutter of the rainwater collection area.

The City Council of Estepona is carrying out cleaning, repair and waterproofing works in the pavilion of La Lobilla with the aim of ending the water seepage suffered by the enclosure when it rains. Specifically, since last 4th, work is being carried out on the perimeter gutter of the building responsible for collecting rainwater from the roof. This gutter has cracks due to oxidation at different points due to the passage of time and as a result of the accumulation of water. The work being carried out includes mechanical cleaning of the surface to be treated, with the removal of leaves and mud, including subsequent specific cleaning with a pressure washer. Different layers of polyurethane will also be applied (airless spray, hot spray and water-based aliphatic), which will allow waterproofing and prevent water from entering.

The work is expected to be completed next week, although the full completion of the work will depend on weather conditions, since the surface on which the work is being carried out must be completely dry before the insulating material can be applied.

The height of the perimeter gutter of the sports center on which work is being carried out and the difficulty of access to it complicate the performance of maintenance tasks, so that each time cleaning work is carried out, a specific risk assessment plan is required for the work, as well as auxiliary resources. In fact, work is currently being carried out using a 22-meter high articulated platform.

The City Council is studying the technical solution to these access difficulties, which would involve the construction of an exterior fixed metal walkway to facilitate the maintenance work on the rainwater collection gutter.
