Estepona will once again be the starting point for the X Solidarity Car Rally ‘Oasis Raid’ 2024
The expedition, which will consist of about thirty vehicles, will depart on Thursday 28th from Juan Carlos I Avenue, to cross the neighboring country of Morocco, where they will deliver material to face the cold and help people affected by the earthquake of 2023, material for families with people with disabilities and school supplies.
Estepona City Council informs that the city will be again next Thursday, March 28, for the seventh year, the official starting point of the X Automobile Rally ‘Oasis Raid’ 2024, an orienteering and motor test aimed at all audiences that combines adventure and solidarity, which pays tribute to the great motorized crossings and raids through Africa.
In collaboration with the City Council, from 09.00 hours on Thursday, the participating vehicles will access a limited space in the Avenida Juan Carlos I, from the traffic circle of the European Union to that of José Tomás, where the teams will be presented and will pass the technical checks. In this space will remain until 12.00 hours, at which time the official start will be given, and the vehicles will leave towards the port of Algeciras, to leave for the African continent.
In this competition, organized by Motor Adventure S.L., will participate thirty vehicles distributed in two categories: ‘Raid’, formed by small displacement vehicles registered in the 80s and 90s, and ‘All-Road’, of ‘SUVs’ and 4X4 vehicles. The caravan will cross the neighboring country of Morocco from March 29 to April 5, and will travel a unique itinerary created for the occasion, divided into seven stages on track, which will test the physical and mental endurance of the participants and the mechanics of the vehicles.
One of the basic pillars of Oasis Raid is solidarity with the most disadvantaged inhabitants of those inhospitable territories where the race takes place. Thus, the expedition will deliver winter clothes to face the cold and help people affected by the earthquake of 2023, material for families with people with disabilities, such as wheelchairs, crutches, special shoes, walkers, etc … and, as in previous years, will deliver school supplies.
To develop the solidarity actions, the participants will have the collaboration of the NGO Felicidad Sin Fronteras, who will be in charge of making sure that the donated material reaches the people who really need it.
