Diana Navarro to perform at the new edition of ‘La Noche en Blanco’, which will be dedicated to dreams
The cultural event will take place next Saturday, June 1, with a wide program of free activities.
All museum spaces in the city will be open from 8 p.m. to midnight.
The deputy mayor of the Sociocultural area, Paula Herrera, and the councilor attached to the delegation of Festivities, Macarena Diánez, today presented the new edition of ‘La Noche en Blanco’, to be held on Saturday June 1.
This year we will have a free concert by Diana Navarro, who will perform at 23.00 hours in the Plaza del Ajedrez. Faithful defender of the musical traditions, she invites us to a sonorous trip from the simplicity of the piano in the most absolute direct, to the most surprising fusion, demonstrating once again that the copla is timeless.
After achieving a resounding success as an actress representing Doña Concha Piquer at the Teatro Español in Madrid, Diana has wanted to pay tribute to this great artist and the copla genre, recreating her most emblematic and also the most unknown songs so that the younger generations can have as a reference a woman who at 14 years old was the first Spanish woman to perform on Broadway and the first actress to have sound film images in the world, among other achievements throughout her career.
On the other hand, all museum spaces in the city will remain open to the public from 20.00 to 00.00 hours, with free admission.
This open day will be in the Archaeological Museum, located in the old Town Hall, with the presence of the municipal archaeologist Idelfonso Navarro, and in the Ethnographic, Bullfighting and Paleontological Museums. In addition, you can visit the Casa de Las Tejerinas, the exhibition of paintings ‘Landscapes’ by Paloma Ripollés and the exhibition of solidarity photography ‘A click for Gatlang’ by Antonio Montes, in room 2. Also, you can access the Botanical Orchid Park and the Dolmenic Interpretation Center of Corominas, by appointment at 626912311.
La Noche en Blanco 2024, which this year will be dedicated to ‘Los Sueños’, will also offer a series of free cultural and leisure activities in different areas of the city. The first will begin at 20.00 hours, with the Batucada ‘Oblo Eleguá’ in the Plaza García Caparrós, a group of Afro-Brazilian percussion that, after the performance, will make a parade that will tour the Avenida de España.
At the same time, the Banda Municipal de Música will perform in the Plaza del Reloj the concert ‘Música para soñar’, under the direction of Maestro José Antonio López Camacho. Children can also attend the storytelling ‘Dreaming with stories’ in the Children’s Library of the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, with the writer Valeria Kilesova, and will begin a route through the murals of Estepona, starting from the entrance of the Orchidarium.
At 21.00 hours, Radio Television Estepona will take to the streets to ask passers-by what they dream of. In this contest, the most original dream will be awarded with a dinner for two at the Mercado de Abastos.
At the same time, there will be a tasting of Petisús varied in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, where the illusionist Nebek will present the show of magic and humor ‘Fantastic Dreams’.
The program will continue at 22.00 hours with various events for all audiences. In the Botanical Orchid Park, the children’s film ‘Mina and the World of Dreams’ will be shown; in collaboration with the García Fajer Foundation, the violinist Elena Estoica will offer the concert ‘Dreams of light’ inside the Orchidarium; the company Black Sheep Producciones will perform in the García Caparrós square the visual and musical show ‘Onírico’; while the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center will host the a capella vocal concert/performance entitled ‘A pie de cama’, with Nieces Arilla & Santiado Latorre.
