Amancio Prada will perform at the presentation of Pedro Villarejo’s book ‘García Lorca en Buenos Aires’.

The event will be held this Thursday, September 5 at the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center in Estepona. The event will be presented by the mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano.

The Estepona City Council informs that the priest and writer Pedro Villarejo will present his new book ‘García Lorca in Buenos Aires’ at the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center, at 21.00 hours.

The event will be presented by the mayor of Estepona, Jose Maria Garcia Urbano, and will feature the musical intervention of Amancio Prada, one of the most prominent composers of our country for his ability to adapt musically to great lyrical voices as Santa Teresa de Jesus, Rosalia de Castro and San Juan de la Cruz.

During his long stay as a prior in Buenos Aires, Pedro Villarejo followed the steps of García Lorca in the Argentine capital, tracing an exciting essay of one of the decisive stages in the life of our most universal poet. The reprinting of this book by Vitruvio publishers brings us closer to Lorca’s steps and his artistic production in those years. Pedro Villarejo rescues and expands a necessary book that clarifies the always mysterious figure of the poet of Granada.

Admission to the presentation will be free until full capacity is reached.

Pedro Villarejo. Born in 1946 in the Cordovan town of Montoro, Villarejo was ordained a priest in 1974, after his 27th birthday. He has a degree in Ecclesiastical Sciences from the Faculty of Theology of Granada. He has carried out his pastoral work in Marbella, Cordoba, Seville, Avila and Argentina, where he lived for a long time. In addition, he was pastor of the church of St. Joseph of Estepona, in the church of the Virgin Mother of Nueva Andalucía, in Marbella, and is currently rector of the Church of the Holy Guardian Angel, in Nueva Andalucía, Marbella.

At the age of 27 he wrote his first work, El hombre y el silencio… todavía. Later, he published Mensaje de medianoche, Teresa y Juan de la Cruz: oraciones disimuladas, García Lorca en Buenos Aires. Una resurrección antes a la muerte, Luz de fragua and Dios mediante, among other books.

In 2007 he won the Ateneo de Valladolid Award with a historical novel about Fray Bartolomé de Carranza, an important 16th century Spanish Dominican and theologian. La luz mentida. Memoria y cárcel del Arzobispo Carranza is the work with which he obtained the recognition of the Castilian capital. Last year he presented his philosophical novel ‘René en su laberinto’.
