Estepona celebrates the Italian Culture Day as part of the program for the promotion of the integration of foreign residents

This activity, which will take place on May 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on España Avenue (next to the La Peseta monument), is part of the ‘Sharing Cultures’ initiative.

The deputy mayor of the Extraradio area, Begoña Ortiz, and the event coordinator, Simona Sorrenti, today presented the Day of Italian Culture, a new activity under the program ‘Sharing Cultures’, aimed at promoting the integration and participation of foreign residents, making known their different cultures and traditions.

The mayor has reported that will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 18.00 to 22.00 hours, on Avenida de España, next to the Monument to La Peseta. During the day, as explained, will offer visitors a unique insight into Italian culture, with stands with typical Italian food, its best wines, crafts and fashion and a cultural program full of performances that will enliven this celebration. In addition, children will have a games corner in charge of Bloggeria.

Also, the councilor announced that this year as a novelty the program is extended with an activity to promote reading, a free storytelling for children will be on Thursday, May 29, at 18.30 pm on the second floor of the Library of Contemporary Cultures in the Cultural Center Mirador del Carmen and will be conducted by teachers Laura Raimondi and Clauida Cappelletti who will sing songs and tell the most outstanding stories of Italian literature, such as Pinoccio, both in Italian and Spanish.

Begoña Ortiz stressed the importance for the government team have these festivals of integration, which aims to strengthen ties with our foreign neighbors. Specifically, Estepona has 135 different nationalities, being 1,490 neighbors of Italian origin. “To them we want to pay tribute on this day by publicizing the different customs, festivals and cuisine of the foreign population that has its residence in Estepona,” explained Ortíz.

The event coordinator, Simona Sorrenti, has detailed the program planned for May 31, which will begin at 18.00 hours with a toast with ‘Pasta la vista’, at 18.30 hours will begin performances with Francesco Fenández, which will be followed by Inés Hrdlickova and Eric Costa, then it will be the turn of Quis of Italian culture, Gianluca and end with the musical duo ‘Double Game’.

In addition, it has specified that both the stands and the performances will be in charge of local establishments and artists of Italian origin.
