Estepona City Council encourages the elderly to use the Telephone against Loneliness

The Estepona City Council extends the information campaign to reinforce and promote the use of the Telephone against Loneliness of the Elderly during the summer. This service is essential to offer company, listening and attention to those who feel lonely.

Loneliness is a serious problem that affects many elderly people during the summer. The absence of family members who go on vacation and the high temperatures cause older people to stay home alone for longer periods of time. This situation can generate a feeling of abandonment and sadness in them.

To combat this, the Delegation of the Elderly of the Diputación de Málaga has launched the loneliness telephone, 900 92 30 92, a free phone number staffed by qualified professionals from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 14:00 hours and from 16:00 to 20:00 hours.

Under the slogan ‘Our elders, never alone’, the Municipal Area of Elderly aims to disseminate this service with the aim of alleviating the consequences of loneliness suffered by the elderly, and encourage commitment to care for the elderly, since, in these dates so marked, it is essential to increase its dissemination to reach the largest possible number of people who are in a situation of unwanted loneliness.
