The City Council of Estepona reports that the councilor attached to the area of Commerce, Public Roads, Outdoor Advertising and Consumer Affairs, has resigned today for professional reasons.
In the next regular plenary session, to be held during the month of January, will be given account of the letter submitted this morning. The mayor Antonio Montes will be, from January, the new head of the municipal delegation of Commerce, Public Roads, Outdoor Advertising and Consumer Affairs.
The government team wants to thank Cristina Cintrano for the important work she has done since 2019 at the head of the municipal delegation of Commerce and Public Roads. During these years, the commercial activity has experienced an outstanding activity with the opening of numerous establishments. Proof of this is that during 2025 Estepona has authorized 10 percent more opening licenses with respect to those granted in 2024. That means that the green light has been given to more than 200 permits, which means that every day and a half a new business opens in our city, thus consolidating a growth trend that has been experienced for a decade.
This year Estepona reached another record by reaching its highest number of self-employed, specifically, 6,838. Cristina Cintrano recalls that according to data from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, in the last 14 years the number of people affiliated to the self-employed regime in Estepona has grown by 45 percent.
For Cintrano has been “a great satisfaction” to see how the economic recovery of the city was also reflected in the unemployment rate, and that “Estepona is one of the Andalusian municipalities with better employment data.
The mayor of Commerce has also thanked the work done by all employees of the delegation of Commerce and Public Roads, and noted that many efforts have been made to prevent bureaucratic obstacles could delay the implementation of business initiatives. Thus, he pointed out some measures carried out as the abolition of the payment of the opening fee for commercial activities classified as innocuous.
Cristina Cintrano has also put in value all the actions that have been implemented so that people interested in opening a business in Estepona can also do so through the electronic office.
Finally, she has also had a reminder of the work done from the Municipal Consumer Office to serve free of charge to residents who are in the need to file a claim after seeing their rights as consumers affected.
The government team wishes Cristina Cintrano the best in her new professional stage and thanks her for the public service she has provided in these two mandates.
