Estepona inaugurates the cycle of presentations of the book ‘Sofia and the mystery of the sky’, an initiative for schools to address the grief of loss

The City Council collaborates with this cultural project and has delivered a copy to each of the local primary schools. The event will take place this Thursday, February 5, at 8 p.m. in the Library of Contemporary Cultures.
The City Council of Estepona informs that next Thursday, February 5, will be inaugurated in the town a cycle, which will also tour other municipalities, to present the book ‘Sofia and the mystery of heaven’, a cultural initiative aimed at primary school children to address the issue of death, absence and grief in a respectful and constructive way.
The City Council collaborates in this project and last January delivered to the 13 primary schools in the city a copy of this work written by the philologist Esther Ráez, sister of Pablo Ráez, the young athlete from Malaga who became a symbol for his fight in defense of bone marrow donation.
At the event, which will take place from 8 p.m. at the Library of Contemporary Cultures, more details will be revealed about this tale, a delicate and profound story that accompanies the little ones in the understanding of death, absence and mourning, through a symbolic story focused on family dialogue and shared memory.
The story, which is also addressed to adults who accompany children, is born from the author’s personal experience and her desire to create a space where children can explore loss and love with careful and sensitive words.
Readers of the book will follow Sofia, a little girl who tries to understand the death of her uncle through questions, memories and family routines, proposing an approach to the process of loss that invites to talk about emotions without offering closed answers.
