Estepona is once again the only Andalusian town to participate in the Cities Race against Pancreatic Cancer.
All proceeds will go to the research of this disease.
The race will take place on December 1, with a popular route of six kilometers, starting at 10:30 am from the Plaza del Ajedrez. Registrations are now open at carreracancerpancreas.es and dorsalchip.es.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today presented the X Cities Race against Pancreatic Cancer, along with the promoter of the event in the town, Carmen Benítez, and the councilman attached to the delegation of Sports, Luis Gil.
The charity event will be held in Estepona on Sunday December 1, with a popular route of six kilometers, starting from the Plaza del Ajedrez, from 10:30 am, and arrival at the same point.
The councilor explained that the town will be for the second consecutive year, the only Andalusian city and one of six Spanish cities, along with Alicante, Madrid, Barcelona, Tarragona and Villamartin de Valdeorras, where the ‘X Race of the Cities against Pancreatic Cancer’ will be held. This is a solidarity event that aims to raise awareness in society about this type of cancer and raise funds to continue research against this serious disease.
For his part, Benítez explained that the race, which this year has the slogan ’10 Years moved by hope’, is organized jointly by the Pancreatic Cancer Association (ACANPAN), which represents patients affected by this tumor, and the City Council of Estepona. It is also promoted by the Spanish Association of Pancreatology (AESPANC) and the Spanish Association of Gastroentereology (AEG), which represents physicians and researchers specialized in the study and management of pancreatic diseases.
Registrations will be open until November 28 at www.carreracancerpancreas.es and dorsalchip.es, and are priced at 12 euros for adults and 6 euros for children. All participants will receive a souvenir T-shirt and there will be a raffle of various gifts and presents from the collaborating companies. All proceeds from registration will go entirely to research. In this sense, there will be several categories to adapt this test to all levels of sporting participants, competitive and non-competitive.
The collection of bibs and T-shirts will take place prior to the day of the race at Eco & Bike, in Malaga Street, number 10, in Estepona, on Thursday and Friday 28 and 29 November, from 16:00 to 18:00 hours, and Saturday 30, between 11:00 and 17:00 hours. On the day of the test, December 1st, 2024, from 09:00 to 10:00 at the Chess Square.
Carmen Benítez has explained that in this solidarity event, children and adults of any age will be able to participate walking, running and even on skateboard or bicycle, since the objective is to get the maximum participation to raise funds for research.
