Estepona will host this weekend the Andalusian Climbing Championship at school age.

More than one hundred athletes are expected to compete in the U15 and U17 categories.

The councilman attached to the delegation of Sports, Luis Gil; and the representative of the Mountain Group Estepona GRUME, Francisco Jimenez, today presented the Andalusian Climbing Championship in school age 2025 to be held this weekend in Estepona.

This competition, organized by the Andalusian Federation of mountain sports, climbing and hiking and the C.D. Estepona Mountain Group (GRUME), and which has the collaboration of the City Council aims to promote climbing as a sports discipline among the child population. The event will take place at the climbing wall of Estepona the next 24 and 25 May 2025.

Luis Gil has stressed that the objective of the City Council is to encourage, promote and promote the realization of sporting events in our city. That is why the City Council strives to create new sports venues and improve existing facilities in the municipality. In this regard, he noted that the construction of the professional climbing wall at the fairgrounds, sports and leisure has allowed many fans to practice this sport in Estepona.

The categories that are called for the final phase of the Andalusian Climbing Championship in School Age individual and Provincial Selections, are U15 for athletes who turn between 13 and 14 years, and exclusively, may be included in this category to athletes who turn 12 years between January 1 and December 31 this year, and U17 for athletes who turn between 15 and 16 years between January 1 and December 31 this year.

A maximum participation of 120 athletes is estimated. The competition schedule is as follows:

– Saturday, May 24, from 11:00 am to 9:30 pm. With an intermediate stop at 14:30 h for lunch for the athletes.

– Sunday May 25, from 09:00 h to 15:00 h.
