Estepona will receive a thousand brothers from all over Spain on the occasion of the XL National Pilgrimage of Brotherhoods of the Vera Cruz.

From September 26 to 28, the town will host this event, which also includes the XXVII Meeting of Young Cruisers.

Estepona will receive this weekend to a thousand brothers and sisters from all over the country on the occasion of the XL National Pilgrimage of Brotherhoods and Confraternities of the Vera Cruz and the XXVII Meeting of Young Crucifixion. Thus, the city will become from 26 to 28 September to host these two events of great importance for the various brotherhoods and fraternities, which are held annually at a point in the country.

The mayor, José María García Urbano, thanked the Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of the Vera+Cruz of Estepona “all the effort made to get our city to host this pilgrimage and the national meeting of young cruisers,” since the project was selected last year after competing with two other locations in Seville. In addition, he highlighted the work they are carrying out, in collaboration with the City Council, for the organization of the event. Also, the first mayor has stressed the importance of these two appointments, which will bring together in the municipality to thousands of people “who will have the opportunity to learn about a hospitable city, with great quality of life and many attractions”.

For its part, from the brotherhood Esteponera has emphasized the importance of these meetings, not only as acts of faith and devotion, but also as events that promote cohesion and twinning between the various brotherhoods and fraternities of the Vera Cruz. At the same time, they have indicated that the pilgrims “will be able to verify the fervor that our city has to the Most Holy Christ of the Vera Cruz”.

The program designed for the celebration of this pilgrimage has a wide range of activities of fraternity between the visiting brotherhoods, but also with events designed to publicize the many attractions of Estepona. Thus, the program will begin with a special event to be held on Friday 26 at the Mirador del Carmen. In addition, that same afternoon there will be visits to the Patroness of the city, Our Lady of Carmen Coronada, the Santísimo Cristo de la Vera+Cruz de Estepona and the brotherhood house.

For Saturday 27th, different visits to points of interest such as the Parish of Los Remedios, the Sacred Titulars of the Brotherhood of the Vera+Cruz of Estepona, the Archaeological Museum, the Orchidarium, the old town, the Castle of San Luis and the image of the Patron Saint of Estepona, San Isidro Labrador, are planned. In the afternoon, there will be a round table entitled ‘Same Feeling and Faith, but different ways of being Crucero’, and the concert ‘The music in our processions, with the participation of the musical groups Jesus Cautivo and Remedios and the Banda de Música de la Vera Cruz.

To this day on Saturday will join the participants in the Meeting of Young Cruisers.

The last day will be celebrated the Pilgrims Mass, which will be officiated at 10.00 am in the Avenida de España, the transfer to the parish will be at 11.30 am and the pilgrimage will conclude with a lunch of brotherhoods and fraternities in the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses.

In addition to these important meetings, the Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of the Vera+Cruz is celebrating this year the 25th anniversary of the Virgen de la Soledad, for this reason the image will receive the Medal of the City and its name will be given to a public space in the town, as recently approved by the Plenary of the City Council.
