Estepona’s beaches will have new towers for the surveillance and lifeguard service this summer.

There will be 17 facilities in La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo and Arroyo Vaquero.

The Estepona City Council is working on the upcoming summer season on the beaches of the municipality, which this year will have new lifeguard and lifeguard towers. In total there will be 17 new structures that will be distributed in La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo and Arroyo Vaquero, from Mexico Street to Arroyo Enmedio.

The Consistory has already contracted the supply and installation of these towers, which will have dimensions of 4.7 meters high (of the 0.7 meters will go under sand), composed of a transportable and prefabricated structure of two pieces (base and hut). They will be provided with access stairs to the upper area. In the upper part there will be a decked area, which allows the authorized person to watch from any position.

The hut will have a door on each side with 5 mm thick sliding methacrylate so that on bad weather days the surveillance function can be carried out without any problem, as well as guaranteeing the same in case of breakage.

The new turrets will come to replace in the next beach season, which will be active between June 15 and September 15, the surveillance chairs with which so far has had the lifeguard service, as explained by the councilor attached to the delegation of Beaches, Susana Aragon.

The company selected for the construction and supply of the towers has improved the initial offer contained in the tender, reducing the time for the supply, as well as the budget, with a drop of more than 27,000 euros, so that the cost of the contract is 110,000 euros.

Other features of the new towers are its resistance to ultraviolet radiation, moisture, impacts and aggressions, in addition to not need maintenance or replacement. In this way, and thanks to its composition, it will guarantee its durability over time.
