Estepona’s coastal corridor incorporates the new section between Benamara and Playa de Baños
The Mayor, José María García Urbano, today attended the inauguration of the path, which has a bridge over the Arroyo Dos Hermanas.
The City Council of Estepona has inaugurated today the new section of the coastal corridor that connects the areas from Benamara to Playa de Baños, which is a new step in the municipal objective of having united by pedestrian promenade all its coastline.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, attended the inauguration of the new section in which 344,511 euros (VAT included) have been invested. The work has provided the area with a large wooden bridge 22.6 meters long and weighing 9 tons over the Arroyo Dos Hermanas.
This action, financed through the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination-Next Generation Funds, has also included the construction of a 220-meter-long, 4-meter-wide, cobblestone-type printed concrete pedestrian walkway, which begins at the access to the beach via Calle Dorada.
With this new section, the coastal corridor project continues to advance after the recent completion of another path on the beach of El Cristo. This last one allows to cross, in an uninterrupted way, the more than 17 kilometers that distance from Costa Natura to El Saladillo. In addition, a new section in Benamara is under tender.
The Estepona coastal path is more than 90% completed, which means that there are more than 20 kilometers of coastline connected by these pedestrian sections. This sustainable urban development initiative that connects the coastline is of great value because it has preserved this space and has created a new attraction for the municipality.
