Morgan Watts and Cristina Resinas, winners of the XXVI ‘Villa de Estepona’ Triathlon 2024

Around 200 triathletes participated in the fourth race of the XXIV Provincial Triathlon Circuit Diputación de Málaga calendar.

The Estepona City Council reports that yesterday Sunday was held the XXVI Triathlon ‘Villa de Estepona’. The test began at 9.00 am from the central Playa de la Rada. From there, about 200 participants faced a sprint distance triathlon of 750 meters of swimming in open water, 20 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers of running through the center of Estepona.

The race, organized jointly by the Provincial Council of Malaga, the City of Estepona and Estepona Triathlon Sports Club, with the concurrence of the Andalusian Triathlon Federation (Malaga Delegation), was the 4th point of the XXIV Provincial Triathlon Circuit Diputación de Málaga.

In the men’s competition the winner was Morgan Watts, non-federated triathlete, with a time of 1:01:48. The second position was for Andrew Gordon, independent triathlete, who entered the finish line with a time of 1:02:26. The third step of the podium was occupied by Juan Antonio Alarcón Rodríguez, from C.P. Mijas Triathlon, with a time of 1:03:26.

The winner of the women’s race was Cristina Resinas Peña, from DESAM.ES, who won with a time of 1:18:59. Second place went to Sonia Vázquez Sánchez, from Montilla-Córdoba Triathlon, who came in with a time of 1:19:29 (last year she was third). And third place went to Brigitta Viktoria Matyas, from C.T. Torremolinos, with a time of 1:22:02.

The awards ceremony for the winners was attended by the councilor attached to Sports of the City Council of Estepona, Luis Miguel Gil Amores; Manuel Raigón, director of the Port of Estepona, sponsor of the event; and Pablo Vázquez, president of the Estepona Triathlon Club.
