Rubén Amón and Roy del Postigo, protagonists of this month’s literary presentations at the Library of Contemporary Cultures

Journalist Rubén Amón will meet with the public on July 25 with his work ‘Tenemos que hablar’ (We have to talk). On Friday, July 18, Malaga historian Roy del Postigo will present ‘Passion and desire. Songs, bodies and resilience’, in an event that will feature the artist Roberto Aragon esteponero

The Library of Contemporary Cultures, located in the Mirador del Carmen, maintains its summer program and will host this July two outstanding literary presentations that will feature the well-known journalist Rubén Amón and the Malaga historian Roy del Postigo.

On Friday, July 18, the presentation of the book ‘Pasión y Deseo. Cantares, cuerpos y resiliencias en el folclore andaluz’, by the Malaga historian Roy del Postigo. Published with the publishing house Dos Bigotes, the work “is a journey into the ways in which Andalusian popular culture has been – and continues to be – a space of expression and resistance for dissidence”.

Roy del Postigo is an art historian and holds a master’s degree in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture from the Reina Sofia Museum and the Complutense and Autonomous Universities of Madrid. His artistic practice transcends academic research and focuses on topics such as mass culture, folklore and contemporary art. The book presentation will feature Estepona artist Roberto Aragon.

On Friday, July 25, Rubén Amón will present his book ‘Tenemos que hablar’ (Espasa) at the Library of Contemporary Cultures, in an event moderated by Paco Reyero. A renowned Spanish journalist, Amón has worked in media such as Antena 3 Radio, Onda Cero, El País, El Confidencial and El Mundo. He was war correspondent in the Balkans and correspondent in Rome and Paris. Currently he is still linked to media such as Onda Cero, Antena 3 or El Confidencial. As a writer, he has published various essays with an important artistic, political and social imprint.

In ‘Tenemos que hablar’, the author vindicates good conversation and its therapeutic power in the face of the hypercommunication full of noise favored by new technologies, and in the face of censorship and self-censorship of political correctness.

Admission to both presentations is free until full capacity is reached.
