Seven companies bid for the execution of the new Asphalting Plan that prioritizes streets and roads in the suburbs

The City Council continues to promote the improvement of the road network with this program, which this time will reach about twenty roads throughout the municipality.

A total of seven companies are bidding to execute the new Municipal Asphalt Plan 2025-2026, which will improve some twenty streets and avenues in the municipality, with special emphasis on the outskirts of the city. This is the seventh action program that the City Council is activating in this area, thus giving continuity to the conditioning that has been carried out in recent years in other main and secondary streets of the city.

The main objective of the project is the renovation of the pavements of several roads, applying sustainability criteria. The aim of these actions is to improve the safety and comfort of users, as well as to reduce noise pollution generated by road traffic and atmospheric pollution. In addition, these works will allow the conservation of the municipal road heritage, avoiding the deterioration that, if not addressed, could lead to the need for a complete reconstruction of the pavements, with the consequent increase in the economic cost.

For the selection and prioritization of the roadways to be rehabilitated, criteria such as the degree of wear or age of the pavements and the average traffic intensity they support have been considered. According to Ana Velasco, deputy mayor for Infrastructure, Development and Tourism (FIT), these plans provide a global intervention that guarantees the functionality of the roads and prolongs their useful life.

A total of 19 roads will be intervened on, which have been selected on the basis of the deterioration of the road surface, although this number could be increased according to the needs of the project or as the works progress.

Specifically, in the downtown area will act in Carmen Laforet street, Puerta del Mar Avenue, Los Reales Avenue, Segovia Avenue, Camelias Street and Guadalmina River Street,

In the outskirts, the work areas are as follows: Lubina street, Alfarnate, Alcaucín, Mexico Avenue, Violeta street, Levante street, Del Reposo street, Bahía Azul urbanization, Tenis street, Romero street, Camomila street, La Paz avenue and Edison street,

The base bidding budget has been set at 1,757,313 euros, although all the proposals received in the public tender to contract the work have been reduced in the amount.

This new plan is in addition to the six previous ones that have been undertaken in the city and have involved the improvement of more than 250 streets and actions in about 300,000 square meters of surface both the urban and suburban areas.

This project complements the transformation that the city has undergone through the comprehensive remodeling of the old town and the beautification of the various enclaves that make up the municipality.

The improvement of the asphalting helps to reinforce road safety, so the Estepona City Council will continue to carry out new plans that will include both streets in the town center and in the outskirts.
