Sixteen new students begin their training in the free Gardening, Electricity, Plumbing and Masonry workshops offered by the City Council.

The City of Estepona continues another year with the training of young people through free workshops in Gardening, Electricity, Plumbing and Electricity. The councilor attached to the delegation of Social Services and Social Integration, Maria Aguilar, has received the 16 new students who will participate in the first call this year and has delivered the diplomas to those who have completed the last edition of 2025.

The mayor has reported that annually the City Council trains almost fifty young people in one of these professions that are in demand today, of which a large number get into the labor market. In this regard, has highlighted the success of these workshops among local companies, which increasingly demand the hiring of these young people who attend our workshops, by the level of preparation with which they complete their training.

Also, the municipal responsible has valued the important work of social and labor insertion that is carried out through this initiative, as it offers to learn a profession with a future and an opportunity to access the labor market for young people between 16 and 24 years who have completed training cycles or who are unemployed.

Over the course of the year, the Consistory offers three editions of these workshops, each of which lasts three months. During this period the students receive 250 hours of training, both theoretical and practical. The latter are carried out in the concessionary companies of the different municipal services, an initiative that allows the students to get in touch with the working world and learn how to solve the incidents and real situations that usually arise in the performance of their profession. In addition, they broaden their knowledge by doing social work, carrying out actions at the headquarters of local associations, always under the supervision of a professional.

In addition, students attending the Gardening workshop are trained in the application of phytosanitary products, an essential qualification for working in this profession. The learning process is completed with information and guidance for the search for employment and informative talks on drug prevention, occupational hazards and fires in the home, as well as recreational and sports activities.

The young people who participate in these workshops are referred by the counselors of the schools, by the parents of the students or are themselves interested in contacting the City Council, in which case you must pick up the application at the municipal delegation of Social Services, located at Avenida San Lorenzo 31 and deliver it completed in the Register of Entry of the City Council.
