Sport: Starting the new year by bike
The first “Día del Pedal” will be held in Estepona on Sunday, 8 January, 10.30 am. Participants will cycle through the main streets of the city. The start will be at the Plaza del Ajedrez. The route will then take Valencia Avenue, Goya Street, Terraza Street, España Avenue, Juan Carlos I Avenue, España Avenue, Litoral Avenue, España Avenue, Terraza Street, Zaragoza Street, Valencia Avenue and back to Plaza del Ajedrez.
Registrations can still be made on Wednesday, 4 January, and Thursday, 5 January, at the municipal sports department, tel. 952802444 or by email to deportes@estepona.es. On Día del Pedal itself, cycling fans can also register from 10 am at Plaza del Ajedrez.
Interested people of all ages can take part in the Día del Pedal, which is organised in cooperation with the 24 Hour Sports Foundation and the city’s cycling clubs and organisations. Helmets are compulsory for children and young people under 16. However, the city also recommends that all other participants wear a helmet.
The event is the prelude to further events in the “Year of the Bicycle” in Estepona.
