The Andalusian Association of Anthropology, ASANA, celebrates this Friday in Estepona an Etnoencuentro of Intangible Cultural Heritage
The conference will focus on Estepona’s maritime fishing heritage.
The City Council of Estepona informs that the Andalusian Association of Anthropology, ASANA, with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, has organized three itinerant conferences on activities inventoried in the Atlas of Intangible Heritage of Andalusia (trades and knowledge, musical and dance expressions related to oral tradition and festive rites).
The aim of these itinerant conferences is to establish a dialogue on Intangible Cultural Heritage, ICH, with associations of Andalusian municipalities and other social agents, to involve them in the identification, documentation and presentation of their own intangible heritage; to promote training in participatory methodologies as tools for documentation, dissemination and safeguarding of ICH, based on the key role of its protagonists; and to promote the social dissemination of ICH, for which purpose, these conferences will be filmed for dissemination by ASANA.
Thus, the first of the three Etnoencuentros of Intangible Cultural Heritage will be held this Friday, March 22 in Estepona, with the collaboration of the City Council, and will focus on the maritime fishing heritage.
The participants, from Seville, will have the opportunity to visit the Fishing Port and the Barrio de Pescadores, between 11.30 and 14.00 hours, while in the afternoon, from 16.30 to 19.00 hours, will visit the Municipal Ethnographic Museum of Estepona, located in the Plaza de Toros, where a round table will be held for the enhancement of the maritime fishing heritage of the area. In it will participate the municipal archaeologist Ildefonso Navarro. The route will end at the Lonja del Puerto, where they will witness a fish auction.
The next scheduled meetings will be held on April 26 in Cordoba, around the courtyards, summer cinemas and jota of the Valley of Los Pedroches; and on June 16 in Pitres, Granada, around the architectural heritage and the trovo alpujarreño.
Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis, closing one week before each meeting, by sending an email to jornadas.asanapci@gmail.com indicating name, surname and activity (student, researcher, other).
