The Estepona Town Hall informs that Room 1 of the Casa de las Tejerinas will host from February 12 a group exhibition of the artists Antonio Serrano, Celso Peñas and Jesus E. Fernandez sampedreños.

The exhibition can be visited until February 25 from Tuesday to Friday, from 09:00 to 20:00 hours, and Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00 hours, with free access.

Celso Vinicio Peñas Martínez (Valladolid, 1955) is a retired primary school teacher and vocational painter. For five years he was a student of painting at the School of Art and Culture of San Pedro Alcántara, taught by Professor Juan Antonio Pérez López. He has also received oil and pastel portrait classes, under the supervision of Professor Aurelio Rodríguez López, a painter specialized in pastel and oil paintings, internationally recognized. Previously, he worked as a student, under the supervision of the artist and professor Pedro Ramirez, now deceased, and has followed painting classes with Gabrielle Ange de (Art Gallery) 2019 and watercolor with professors Alfonso Hervas Cardenas and Jose Miguel Andres Gutierrez in 2021-22.

His works are made in oil and pastel almost exclusively, and in a realism or realism-fantastic. The themes he has chosen, although there are several: ethnic groups, flamenco, nudes, portraits, pandemics, social themes, horses, flowers… most of them are focused on the female human face. She has made portraits on commission.

He has participated, along with other colleagues, in end-of-course exhibitions at the Trapiche Cultural Center hall in Guadaiza and in the exhibition hall of the Plaza de la Libertad, in San Pedro Alcántara (2020-21-22-23-24-25).

In 2021 he participated in the Third International Art Festival of Marbella, (Festiarte), and in 2022 and 2024 he also exhibited at the Casa de Las Tejerinas in Estepona. In 2022 he also took part in an exhibition at the Centro Cultural San Clemente in Toledo, together with the collective Culminarte, in honor of Federico García Lorca and, together with other artists, in the Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Meliá Don Pepe Hotel, Marbella. He has also painted a mural in the Plaza de la Libertad in San Pedro, about Fine Arts.

He has presented two works in the Bienal de Artes Plásticas ‘Ciudad de Albacete’ and in the IV Certamen Nacional de Pintura del Real Club Mediterráneo. Recently he has exhibited works, along with two other colleagues, in the Town Hall of Istan, in April 2023, and in the Tourist Office of Monda in May of the same year.

Antonio Serrano Martin was born in 1946 in Malaga. He has always had an aptitude for drawing. For 49 years he worked in different architectural studios. He began studying photography with Lola Rudolphi, painting with Pedro Ramirez and sculpture with Pablo Vidal, all at Arte y Cultura in San Pedro Alcantara.

He usually exhibits in collective appointments, the most recent ones, in July 2021 with Celso Peñas, in the School of Music of San Pedro Alcántara, where he also showed his sculptures; in April 2023 with Celso and Jesús E. Fernández, in the Town Hall of Istán; and in September of the same year, with Celso and Jesús E. (paintings), and Juan Carlos Caballero (watercolors), again in the School of Music of San Pedro.

Jesús Emilio Fernández was born in a village in Burgos, Melgar de Fernamental, in 1954. In his first years of school, his creative and artistic restlessness was already awakened. He studied Technical Drawing at the Escuela de Maestría Industrial de Burgos. In the world of Graphic Arts, he developed his apprenticeship and career as a draftsman with printing in different media and companies in Burgos and Madrid. During this stage, he carried out commissions and personal works. Currently, already retired, he lives in San Pedro Alcántara, where he was able to access the classes of Painting and Sculpture in Clay in the classrooms of the Cultural Center El Trapiche, since 2021.

Throughout his artistic career he has been inspired by artists such as Marceliano Santamaría, Sorolla, or Antonio López, and others such as Francisco Espinoza Dueñas, in clay sculpture. His pictorial works range from nibs and charcoal, to pastel and oil, the technique with which he currently works. On the other hand, his sculptures, although sometimes figurative, are more inclined to the abstract of Espinoza’s school.

He has participated in group exhibitions in Burgos and Alcalá de Henares and, in recent years, has participated in various exhibitions in the hall of El Trapiche and in the hall of the Plaza de La Libertad in San Pedro Alcántara. The last one, in the College of Dentists of Malaga.
