The Casa de Las Tejerinas will host an exhibition of the multidisciplinary artist Carla Hurtado from Alicante.

The exhibition, entitled ‘Steps towards the ineffable’, will be open to the public from April 10 to 23.
The Estepona City Hall informs that the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores, will host from next April 10 the exhibition entitled ‘Steps towards the ineffable’, by the multidisciplinary artist Carla Hurtado.
The exhibition, curated by Mikey Rico, brings together a total of fourteen works divided into four series: Moon Girls, consisting of four pieces made with the technique of acrylic on canvas; Universe, of five pieces of acrylic and flexible modeling mass on canvas; the Renacer series, consisting of four works of acrylic with texture on canvas; and Totem, in which she shows a marine sculpture made with epoxy putty on stone.
“My work is an intimate and universal journey, a journey through the interior and exterior landscapes that have marked my life and my art. With ‘Steps towards the ineffable’, I explore that which cannot be named but can be felt, that which transcends the tangible to enter the emotional, the spiritual and the inexplicable. Each brushstroke is one more step towards the ineffable”, says the artist.
The exhibition can be visited until April 23 from Tuesday to Friday, from 09.00 to 20.00 hours; and on Saturdays, from 09.00 to 14.00 and from 16.00 to 20.00 hours, with free access.
Carla Hurtado was born in Alicante in the spring of 88. In 1996 her family moved to San Vicente del Raspeig, where she began to forge her artistic path. Between 2013 and 2015 she broadened her horizons towards crafts and modeling, excelling in the use of polymer clay and creating handmade jewelry.
She later moved to Bigastro, where she had her first child and began studying illustration and editorial layout. Between 2017 and 2018 she had her second daughter, which led her to create custom sculptures for children’s birthdays. Her venture grew quickly, selling all over Spain.
In the midst of the pandemic she created her first book cover, followed by many more, and in 2022 she started painting again, exploring new materials for sculpture. She also took courses in art therapy and published her first illustrated album for children entitled ‘El Diente de los deseos’ (The Wish Tooth). Currently, Carla continues to illustrate book covers for self-published writers and she dedicates herself to painting and sculpture with the aim of generating a dialogue of listening and empathy with those who contemplate her work. She also collaborates with psychologists to help others in their process of self-knowledge through painting.
