The Casa de Las Tejerinas will host the painting exhibition ‘Entre el asfalto y el papel’ by Gabriel Campos, a fusion of his two passions: art and automobiles.

The opening of the exhibition curated by the art historian, Mikey Rico, will take place next Friday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m., and can be visited until May 28, with free access.
The Estepona Town Hall informs that Room 1 of Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores, will host from next May 16, at 18:00 hours, the painting exhibition ‘Between asphalt and paper’ by the Marbella artist Gabriel Campos.
His works are close to realism, with solid strokes and mastery of tones that allow him to faithfully produce the most emblematic models of automotive history, from classics such as a 1929 Bently Blower, to more current ones, such as a 2019 Lamborghini Huracán LP 610 – 4.
The artist focuses on figurative art where he employs charcoal on paper to achieve a photographic aesthetic in his work.
The exhibition, curated by Art historian and consultant, Mikey Rico, will be inaugurated on Friday, May 16, 6:00 pm. It will remain on display for visits until May 28, Tuesday to Friday, from 9:00 to 20:00 hours, and Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 hours, with free access.
Gabriel Campos. “The exhibition ‘Between asphalt and paper’ presents the work of Gabriel Campos, an artist whose career is marked by the fusion of two passions that have defined his life since childhood: art and motoring. With impeccable technique and a keen eye for detail, Campos captures the essence of the most iconic automobiles in history, transforming mechanical precision into artistic expressions full of life and movement.
Born in Marbella, Gabriel has been immersed in an environment where luxury and automotive engineering are found in every corner. From a young age, his gaze was drawn to the cars that populated the streets of Puerto Banús, not only for their aesthetic beauty, but also for their cultural and historical significance. This fascination led him to document these encounters through photography, and then transfer them to paper with an exceptional mastery of charcoal.
In this series, Campos not only faithfully reproduces the details of each vehicle, but also conveys the emotion of having seen them in motion, rolling through the streets, as living witnesses of an era. His figurative technique, bordering on hyperrealism, imitates the precision of photography, but with a personal touch that only the manual stroke can give.
Each work is a tribute to the history of the automobile, but also a testimony of the emotional connection that the artist establishes with each model.
The use of charcoal on paper not only highlights the texture and volumes of the cars, but also evokes a sense of timelessness, as if these machines were suspended in an eternal moment. Through his work, Gabriel Campos invites us to reflect on the relationship between the human being and the machine.
‘Between asphalt and paper’ is more than an exhibition; it is a visual journey that combines admiration for automotive engineering with artistic sensibility. Each stroke, each shadow, each detail, reminds us that art is not only in what we see, but in what it makes us feel.” Mikey Rico.
