The City Council advances in the completion of the coastal corridor and prepares the bidding process for the section between Guadalmina Baja and Casasola.

The path is 95% completed and already connects more than 21 kilometers of coastline.
The Estepona City Council faces the final stretch of the macro-project started more than a decade ago to create a corridor that allows to walk along the entire coastline of the municipality. In this sense, it is finalizing the procedures for the remaining sections to complete this great infrastructure. In the case of the one corresponding to the area between Guadalmina Baja and Casasola, the project and the pertinent permits are already in place and in a few days the bidding will be opened to contract the works.
The project at this point contemplates the construction of a paved path that will allow safe and accessible transit along the coast, contributing to the recovery and conservation of the transit easement within the maritime-terrestrial public domain. Specifically, this new section is located between the Guadalmina River and the Atalaya Park Hotel, on the beach known as Casasola.
The solution adopted for this area consists of the construction of a paved pedestrian path 673 meters long, with a constant free passage width of 3 meters. The paving will be made of printed concrete, a material that offers an aesthetic and functional solution suitable for the surrounding conditions. This pedestrian walkway will connect the projected paths on both sides of the area of action, improving accessibility and integration of the coastal area.
The Estepona coastal corridor is already 95% complete. At the same time, the Consistory is working on the projects for the remaining sections to be completed. Specifically, the extension of the pedestrian path in the areas of Bahía Dorada, to the west, and in Atalaya, to the east. In the Isdabe Atalaya area, within section 15 of the municipal project, all the documentation has been submitted and permits are awaited. As for the Costa Natura area, the project for the construction of the coastal corridor section is in the drafting stage.
The mayor, José María García Urbano, stresses the great value of this initiative of sustainable urban development, which has meant preserving this coastal area, becoming a new tourist attraction for the municipality. In this regard, he recalled that the construction of a large pedestrian corridor connecting the entire coastline of Estepona is a project on which work began in 2011, being one of the strategic initiatives marked at the beginning of his administration as mayor.
To condition the coastal corridor of Estepona has been necessary to install up to 17 large wooden bridges to save the rivers and streams along the route. The result has been an important enhancement of some spaces that had been isolated and can now be enjoyed by citizens through walking or sports.
