The City Council advances in the works to stabilize a stretch of coastal corridor in Playa Bella

The works include the repair of 35 meters of wall, with the installation of micropiles and backfill, in addition to the enlargement of the existing access stairway.
The Estepona City Council reports the progress of the works being carried out for the repair and stabilization of part of the existing retaining wall in the area of Playa Bella, affected by the damage caused by the sea storms. Specifically, it will intervene in the layout of the coastal corridor that connects La Chimenea with Playa Bella.
The works consist of the repair and reinforcement of 35 meters of wall, for which fillings and the construction of concrete micropiles are being necessary. Likewise, the action that has an investment of 129,175 euros, also includes the arrangement of the access staircase to the urbanization of this area that has also been affected and has cracks caused by the various storms.
This section was inaugurated in 2015, has a wooden walkway of 325 meters long and has 320 meters. In its execution, a concrete retaining wall was built due to the clearing tasks that had to be carried out. The passing of the years and the effects of sea storms have been causing damage that, although repaired in a previous intervention, now need a reinforcement action to the harsh effects of waves.
The beaches of the municipality of Estepona have been affected for years by the effects of erosion, which causes significant damage to both infrastructure and equipment, so an urgent intervention is needed to stabilize the coastline with the construction of breakwaters. This definitive solution, long claimed from the City Council to the central government, is necessary to stop the loss of sand and the advance of the waves that leads to significant damage, such as those who has been suffering this section of the coastal path in Playa Bella, However, the requests made from the Consistory and by the mayor himself, José María García Urbano, have not been met.
