The City Council and the ’24 Horas Deportivas’ Foundation organize a new edition of the School Games that will feature 30 sports disciplines
The competitions will start next Friday, March 21, and will last until June.
The councilman attached to the municipal delegation of Sport, Luis Miguel Gil Amores, and the president of the Foundation ’24 Hours Sports’, Manuel Vallejo, today presented a new edition of the School Games, involving the centers of Primary and Secondary Education in the town and will feature thirty sports disciplines.
The municipal responsible has stated that this competition is purely participatory and stressed the educational nature of the School Games, as well as offering the opportunity to play sports to a large number of children, this competition has its own philosophy and an objective that is to educate through sports discipline, thus instilling values such as companionship, respect for the rival or fair play.
Manuel Vallejo explained that the students have spent several months receiving classes in the sport in which they have enrolled, as well as conducting preparatory training for this phase that will begin on Friday. The sports that are practiced are indoor soccer, handball and basketball 3×3, which are played in the sports center St. Thomas Aquinas, and volleyball in schools. In April, athletics will begin at the Athletics Stadium.
In addition to these, there is also orienteering, which takes place in schools, and nautical activities in the facilities of the Real Club Náutico de Estepona.
Finally, the organization encourages all families who want to enroll their children in any of these competitions to get information through the 24 Hours Sports Foundation, the municipal delegation of Sports or the monitor in charge in each school.
