The City Council announces the VI International Poetry Prize ‘Ciudad de Estepona’, endowed with 7,000 euros for the winning work.

Original works may be submitted from January 30 to March 20. Pre-Textos publishing house will publish the winning collection of poems. The last edition reached a record number of participants with more than 2,300 originals received, making this contest one of the most important at national level.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, along with the director of the contest, Alejandro Simón Partal, today presented the call for the VI International Poetry Prize ‘Ciudad de Estepona’, which has become a reference in the literary scene in Spanish.
The contest is again endowed with 7,000 euros for the author of the winning work, which will be published by Pre-Textos, a publishing house that has one of the best catalogs in our country.
The councilor explained that this year’s call is launched with special enthusiasm after seeing the success of the 2025 edition, to which more than 2,300 poems from many countries were submitted.
The mayor considers that in its years of trajectory the prize has managed to be received as one of the most desired by authors who write in Spanish, since books written in Spanish are presented to the contest from practically all Latin American countries and from England, France, China, Germany, Portugal, Jordan, Morocco, Canada or Japan, among others.
In his opinion, “this international impact is motivated by the commitment we have made in Estepona for culture and creators, in addition to all the activities that are organized in the city on the occasion of the award “. Also, García Urbano has pointed out that from the City Council will continue to work on organizing activities that promote and encourage reading because it is a fundamental activity for the lives of citizens.
In addition, they have announced that the Galician poet Miriam Reyes, National Poetry Prize 2025, will be the president of the jury in this sixth edition, which will be composed of other names of recognized literary career and a representative of the publishing house Pre-Textos.
The deadline for submitting original works will begin on January 30 and will be open until March 20 at 3 p.m. They should be sent in PDF format to the following e-mail address: premiointernacionalpoesia@estepona.es. This literary contest was born in 2021 as one of the most relevant that have been created in recent years in the national scene, both for the economic endowment of the award and for its link to one of the most important publishers in Spanish language. In its fifth edition it reached a record number of participants with a total of 2,321 works submitted.
