The City Council anticipates future electricity supply needs and tenders the construction of a new electrical substation next to the industrial park.

The Consistory is contracting the concession of a municipal plot where the new facilities will be built and operated.

The municipal coffers will receive an annual fee while the concession is in force.

The Estepona City Council is contracting the concession of a municipal plot located next to the Industrial Estate for the construction of a new electricity transformer substation. The aim of this initiative is to anticipate future service needs that may arise in the short and medium term in the municipality as a result of population growth and new urban and business developments.

In January 2021, the City Council approved in plenary session that this plot of land should have a compatible use with that of facilities and services, which allows it to accommodate facilities of these characteristics.

According to the tender documentation, the successful bidder must prepare the land for its operation, implement the works and sufficient equipment for the construction of this electrical energy transformer substation, and meet the demand for electricity supply to all the sectors that adhere to the Substation Execution Agreement.

With this new substation, the City Council is anticipating future electricity service needs that may arise as a result of the growth of the city, both in terms of the number of inhabitants and of new urban developments and the growth of the industrial estate itself.

The administrative concession will grant the successful bidder the right to occupy the 2,418.80 square meters of land for the private use and exploitation of the enclave. In addition, he will have to sign the corresponding agreement with Endesa. Therefore, until the agreement is signed, the concessionaire will be responsible for the installations, maintenance and specific insurance and, once this occurs, it will be the responsibility of the electricity company. Once built, the substation is not municipal property.

The maximum term for the administrative concession of this land has been set at 75 non-extendable years, counted from the formalization of the contract. However, the concessionaire will have a period of 36 months to complete the work on the facilities agreed to be made available to the electricity company.

The successful bidder will have to pay the Estepona Town Hall a minimum annual fee of 9,046.31 euros, plus any applicable taxes. However, the company presenting the most economically advantageous offer for the municipal coffers will be selected.

The facilities and their elements must comply with all the legal, administrative and technical requirements applicable for their commissioning, in accordance with their intended use and permitted uses, with the successful bidder assuming the costs involved.
