The City Council completes work on the section of the coastal corridor on Cristo beach, which will connect more than 17 kilometers from Costa Natura to El Saladillo.
The new path will be open to the public during the next week, once the night lighting points are installed.
The Estepona Town Hall informs that the works of the coastal corridor section at the Cristo beach have been completed. The creation of this new path allows to travel, uninterruptedly, more than 17 kilometers from Costa Natura to El Saladillo.
The new section will be open to the public next week, once the installation of the night lighting points is completed.
The works have been executed by the company Althenia, S.L.U. and have had a budget of 494,049 euros (VAT included). The work has been financed through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union-Next Generation EU.
The new path, which will connect with the pedestrian walkway of Doncella Beach and the beach of El Cristo, has a length of 354 meters and a width of 3 meters, after adapting its layout to the existing topography with the aim of minimizing earthworks.
In addition, this section has included the construction of a wooden footbridge 12.30 meters long and 3 meters wide next to Doncella Beach. The accesses from the path to the beach have also been resolved by means of stairs and a newly created ramp, which has replaced the existing stairs.
This action, which has also included the installation of street furniture, taps, litter garbage cans and bollards, will give an important boost to the coastal corridor project in the western part of the city.
The coastal path project in Estepona is well advanced and is more than 90% completed, which means the existence of more than 20 kilometers of coastline linked by these pedestrian paths. This initiative of sustainable urban development that connects the coastline is of great value because it has meant preserving this space and has enabled a new attraction for the municipality.
It should also be remembered that in the last two years five new stretches have been built: the most recent in the area of Arroyo Vaquero; the one connecting the Laguna Village shopping center with Dominion Beach (with a length of 870 meters); a third stretch of 145 meters located in Riviera Andaluza; another in front of the new IKOS Andalucía hotel and the fifth one connecting this hotel facility with the Park Beach urbanization, which has a bridge of more than 60 meters over the Guadalmansa River.
