The City Council contracts the works of the new Asphalting Plan, which prioritizes streets and roads in the suburbs

The City Council continues to promote the improvement of the road network with this program, which this time will reach about twenty roads throughout the municipality.
The Estepona City Council has awarded the contract for the work corresponding to the VII Municipal Plan of Asphalting, which will improve about twenty streets and avenues of the municipality, with special dedication to the suburban area. This is the seventh program of action that the City Council activates in this area, thus giving continuity to the conditioning that has been carried out in recent years in other main and secondary streets of the city.
The main objective of the project is the renovation of the pavements of several roads, applying sustainability criteria. The aim of these actions is to improve the safety and comfort of users, as well as to reduce noise pollution generated by road traffic and atmospheric pollution.
In addition, these works will allow the conservation of the municipal road heritage, avoiding the deterioration that, if not addressed, could lead to the need for a complete reconstruction of the pavements, with the consequent increase in the economic cost.
For the selection and prioritization of the roadways to be rehabilitated, criteria such as the degree of wear or age of the pavements and the average traffic intensity they support have been considered. According to Ana Velasco, deputy mayor for the area of Development, Infrastructures and Tourism (FIT), these plans provide a global intervention that guarantees the functionality of the roads and prolongs their useful life.
A total of 19 roads will be intervened on, which have been selected on the basis of the deterioration of the road surface, although this number could be increased according to the needs of the project or as the works progress.
Specifically, in the downtown area will act in Carmen Laforet Street, Puerta del Mar Avenue, Los Reales Avenue, Segovia Avenue, Camelias Street and Guadalmina River Street,
In the suburbs, the work areas are as follows: Calle Lubina, Alfarnate, Alcaucín, Avenida Mexico, Calle Violeta, Calle Levante, Calle Del Reposo, urbanization Bahía Azul, Calle del Tenis, Calle del Romero, Calle Camomila, Avenida de la Paz and Calle Edison,
A total of seven companies have applied for the public tender, being finally awarded Hormigones Asfálticos Andaluces, S.A., which presented the best economic offer, with a final budget of 1,445,038.75 euros, and an execution period of five months once the works begin.
