The City Council expands the number of cab licenses and raises the ratio of vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility

The Consistory has opened the tender to award five new permits to meet the demand derived from population growth in the city.
The Estepona City Council has initiated the procedures to award five new cab licenses in the municipality, of which two will be under the modality of auto cab, up to 9 seats, adapted for people with reduced mobility. The remaining three are for car cabs of up to 7 seats.
The municipal initiative has the corresponding mandatory and binding report of the General Directorate of Mobility and Transport of the Ministry of Development, Land Development and Housing of the Andalusian Government, which takes into account the significant population growth, and therefore demand for service, which has experienced the city in the last decade, as has been raised from the Consistory.
With these new permits the city will reach a total of 90 cabs, six of them adapted for people with reduced mobility. In this way Estepona raises the ratio of adapted vehicles above 6%, one point more than the minimum 5% stipulated in Royal Decree 1544 / 2007 of November 23, which regulates the basic conditions of accessibility and non-discrimination for access and use of transport modes for people with disabilities.
The Consistory has published today the rules of the competition for the permanent award of the five new licenses. Among the requirements for participation is not to be the holder of another auto-taxi license or authorization for interurban transport in a passenger vehicle, as well as to have the ownership of the vehicle or commitment to acquire it in compliance with the requirements set forth in the regional regulation governing the service, in the Municipal Ordinance and in the technical specifications of the tender. In addition, although it will be possible to participate in the tender for more than one license, only one license may be awarded.
In the evaluation, in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Ordinance of the Discretionary Public Transport Service of Passengers in Tourist Cars, the previous experience of the applicants in the profession within the municipality of Estepona and their seniority will be taken into account in a preferential manner. The economic offer made will also be valued.
Those interested in obtaining any of these new licenses may submit the required documentation until September 26th.
