The City Council informs of the IBI and garbage tax subsidies for this year, which will exceed 4.4 million euros.

It is the bonus to the registered residents of the Real Estate Tax (IBI) and the exemption of the payment of the garbage tax to the most vulnerable groups.

The City Council of Estepona will allocate this year more than 4 million euros in grants to subsidize the Property Tax (IBI) and to exempt the payment of the garbage rate to the most vulnerable groups, in particular, in the last fiscal year 2022, amounts of 4,209,390.15 euros were established to subsidize the IBI and 198,619.00 euros for exemptions from the garbage rate.

It should be recalled that citizens have a 3% reduction -both for IBI, as well as for the Economic Activities Tax (IAE) and the garbage tax- for those who have paid their bill by direct debit and pay it within the voluntary payment period. In general terms, the average IBI bill has gone, since 2011, from 700 to 560 euros.

The deputy mayor of the Economic Area, José María Ayala, explained that to benefit from the bonus for registration, individuals will not have to apply for it, as it will automatically apply the City Council.

In relation to the garbage tax, will be exempt from payment of retirees and long-term unemployed registered in the town, which will benefit about 1,898 taxpayers receipts. It is automatically applied to retirees who have already requested it in previous years. The rest of the beneficiaries will be able to apply for it until December 30, at the Estepona Town Hall.

These measures are part of the actions of fiscal support to all families in Estepona, and especially to the most vulnerable groups, maintaining the commitment not to raise taxes to citizens and offer help to those who need it most.

Among the measures from which citizens can benefit also include the elimination of the opening tax for 35 types of economic activities; the 75% rebate on the opening tax for vulnerable groups; the rebate of the Economic Activities Tax (IAE) for the industrial activity of the polygons and the 50% reduction in the rate of occupation of public roads to traders who comply with the municipal ordinance in this regard. The tax ordinance also includes a reduction in the capital gains tax and exemption for those people who are victims of foreclosures or evictions, among other measures.
