The City Council is planning the opening of a youth hostel on the site of the former Tourism Office.
The Consistory will soon open the bidding process for the operation and expansion of these facilities located in the marina for 25 years.
The Estepona Town Hall is going to put out to tender the administrative concession of the plot of land on which the former Tourist Office is located for the operation and expansion of these facilities located in the marina with the idea of converting them into a youth hostel. The land has an area of 808 square meters and the concessionary company will be in charge of the renovation and refurbishment works of the existing building to adapt it to the regulations applicable to the constructions dedicated to youth hostels.
The administrative concession for the development of this activity will be for 25 years. The minimum annual fee initially set is 41,015.41 euros plus taxes, with the corresponding annual updates. The award, however, will be made to the proposal that, fulfilling the stipulated conditions, is most convenient and advantageous to the municipal interests. The concessionaire will assume the financing of all the works to be executed on the land under concession, including those corresponding to infrastructures and urbanization.
After the end of the contract, the assets will return to the City Council.
With this new facility, the municipal patrimony is activated and a municipal building that was left unused since the transfer of the tourist office to the historical center is put in value; at the same time, the hotel offer is extended with a type of accommodation that, until now, the city lacks.
The future facility is complemented with the project ‘Estepona Jardín de la Costa del Sol’, which has meant the enhancement of the whole urban environment of the city as a focus of tourist attention.
