The City Council organizes a Lyric Festival in the Plaza del Ajedrez with the performance of the zarzuelas ‘El Barbero de Sevilla’ and ‘La Revoltosa’.

The company Teatro Lírico Andaluz will stage these two plays, under the direction of Pablo Prados, on July 25 and 26, at 10:00 p.m., at the Plaza del Ajedrez, with free access.
Estepona City Council reports that the Plaza del Ajedrez will host next July 25 and 26 the Lyrical Festival ‘Ciudad de Estepona’, with the representation of the zarzuelas ‘El Barbero de Sevilla’ and ‘La revoltosa’, so that citizens can enjoy free of charge these great works of the Masters Geronimo Gimenez and Manuel Nieto, and Ruperto Chapi, respectively.
The works will be performed by the Malaga company Teatro Lírico Andaluz, under the direction of Pablo Prados, next Friday July 25 and Saturday July 26, at 22:00 hours, with free access.
“El Barbero de Sevilla” is a zarzuela, in one act, divided into three paintings, with libretto by Guillermo Perrín y Vico and Miguel de Palacios, and music by Gerónimo Giménez and Manuel Nieto. It premiered at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid on February 5, 1901.
“La Revoltosa” is a Sainete Lírico in one act, with libretto by José López Silva and Carlos Fernández Shaw, and music composed by maestro Ruperto Chapí. Considered one of the most important works of the género chico, it premiered at the Teatro Apolo in Madrid on November 25, 1897.
