Estepona City Council informs that this afternoon, on the occasion of the ‘Civil Protection Day’, will take place the delivery of awards to members of the Service and Volunteers of the Local Civil Protection Group of Estepona, as well as mentions to various collaborators in emergency situations. On this occasion the event will recognize the work done in the relief work provided to those affected by the DANA last October, both in municipalities in the province of Malaga and in the Valencian Community.
The event is a tribute to all the men and women who have dedicated their free time to this public service, and this year especially to those who have collaborated in the relief work for those affected by the floods. Therefore, mentions are given to individuals in recognition of their altruistic work promoting the donation of food, cleaning products, clothing and household goods; and companies that have provided their vehicles for the transport of donated material from the citizens of Estepona for those affected by the DANA in Valencia. Those recognized will be Puro Sabor (Francisco Villar Castillo), Modas La Ganga (Luis Ramón Benítez Montesinos and Vanessa Medina Barroso), Moto Club Onde Vamos (Ángel Cárdena Madrid). Brotherhood of Los Remedios (Francisco Javier Torres Jimenez) and Altransa (Juan Miguel Macias Cabrera and Victor Manuel Macias Cabrera).
Mentions were also awarded to groups and volunteers in recognition of their work in cleaning and refurbishing homes affected by the rains in the municipalities of Cártama and Álora. In this case they receive the Red Cross of Estepona, the Local Grouping of Civil Protection Volunteers, and the whole of the citizens of Estepona.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, highlighted the involvement of these groups and volunteers in all activities carried out in the city, as well as the willingness to act in cases of emergencies and disasters. In addition, he recalled the work they do throughout the year in all kinds of sporting events, cultural, festivals or processions, as well as in the various drills that are carried out in municipal buildings and schools.
The act of recognition, which will take place in the Plenary Hall of the Palacio de Congresos at 19.30 hours, is completed with the delivery of mentions to members of the Civil Protection Service for their years of work for the citizenship. Thus, Yellow Badges (from 5 to 9 years) will be awarded to María Isabel Morales Carrasco, María Luisa Veiga Stevens, Josefa Ocaña Parrado, Cándida Rodríguez Sánchez, José María Barea Parra and Diego Pavón Chaves.
The Bronze Medals with Orange Distinction (more than 10 years of service) are awarded this year to Jesús Vázquez López, María del Mar Martínez Martínez and Vanesa Lorente Morales; and the Silver Medals with Blue Distinction (more than 15 years of service), to José Antonio Pérez Rojas, Patricia Rivas Navarrete and Javier Carrasco Ocaña.
The Gold Medals with Spanish Flag Distinction (more than 25 years) were awarded to Oscar Manuel Paniz Fernandez and Daniel Infantes Villalba.
The Gold Commendation and the Grand Cross of Constancy for more than 30 years of service are awarded to José Martín Maturana and Manuel Fernández Sánchez.
The Local Civil Protection Service of Estepona is nourished by the commitment of the citizens in the form of a Local Volunteer Group. In an altruistic and disinterested way, they participate in activities to protect the lives of people, their property and the environment, in accordance with the rules governing voluntary participation in Civil Protection. This important social work also involves individuals, institutions, organizations and various entities, which are recognized each year.
