The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, the co-founder of the Starlite group, Sandra García-Sanjuán, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía, Víctor Manuel González, and the delegate of the branch in Malaga, Gemma del Corral, presented today at FITUR the project ‘Starlite Music World’ in Estepona.
The councilman stressed that the commitment of this group for Estepona confirms that the city is an attractive and quality destination. He also noted that its implementation will be a valuable cultural and tourist projection in the international arena and a great boost to the local economy.
For all these reasons, he has pointed out that “it has the institutional support and guarantees of agility in all the procedures that depend on the City Council of Estepona”. In addition, he has indicated that “being in the project accelerator unit of the Junta de Andalucía, ensures that it is processed with maximum speed”. Finally, he thanked the promoters for betting on the city and for all the benefits that this project will bring to Estepona.
Sandra García-Sanjuán explained that this is a “different and complementary” project to Starlite. In this way, has specified that “it will be the first ‘City of Music’ worldwide, with facilities that go far beyond concerts,” and that will be a very important contribution to revitalize Estepona, generating a great economic impact on the area. “It is a very powerful bet, with a very large investment, which will give a big boost to the supply of employment, training and entertainment in Estepona,” he added.
It should be recalled that the Junta de Andalucía has declared of strategic interest the ‘Starlite Music World’ of Estepona. It will have an expected private investment of 286 million euros and will create 450 jobs.
Specifically, ‘Starlite Music World’ brings together various cultural, hotel, gastronomic and educational activities. This project, which will be located in the area of Estepona known as La Panera, foresees the construction of ‘La Ciudad de la Música’ and ‘La Ciudad Audiovisual’. The first will have an eleven hectare area and the creation of a boulevard with a lake, a central square, restaurants, an artists’ area and an auditorium for large musical shows with a capacity for 15,000 people. It also contemplates a hotel with capacity for 200 rooms and a conference center, among others. On the other hand, ‘La Ciudad Audiovisual’ will occupy almost six hectares and will consist of several recording studios and sets of between 1,500 and 3,000 square meters, equipment warehouses and internal service areas.
