The City Council undertakes works in the Monterroso River embankment to improve the sewage network.
The execution of the works requires a traffic reorganization in the area around Avenida Juan Carlos I and Puerta del Mar.
The Estepona City Council continues to work on adapting and providing the necessary infrastructure and services to all those areas of the municipality that, due to its growth and urban development, require it. In the specific case of the urbanization of the La Calera sector, work has begun on the channeling of the Arroyo Monterroso stream, which will optimize the sewage network in the area.
Specifically, a new collector will be installed in the Monterroso river channel at its connection with the Las Mesas stream. The works are part of the urbanization project of the soils of La Calera, drafted by the City Council of Estepona according to the current General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) of Estepona and the approved Detail Study, and the owners of the sector are responsible for its financing. Based on the same, works will be undertaken to provide the area with the necessary accesses and urban infrastructures (road network, supply and sewerage connection, installation and electricity supply).
The execution of the works for the new sewerage collector will require a traffic reorganization in the area around Juan Carlos I Avenue and Puerta del Mar Avenue. The cuts will be carried out in phases. The first of them, which has already begun and will last for two weeks, is located at the junction of Avenida Juan Carlos I with the Cibernética traffic circle. Traffic will be cut off in the descent of Juan Carlos I until the beginning of next week and will be diverted by Puerta del Mar and Camino de las Mesas or by Ortega y Gasset street. The downhill direction of Puerta del Mar Avenue from the Lidl traffic circle will be reduced to one lane in the first few days until it becomes necessary to cut it completely.
The second phase will consist of cutting off the traffic on the section of Avenida Puerta del Mar, in the downhill direction towards the Cibernética traffic circle from the Lidl traffic circle, diverting traffic through the Lidl traffic circle and the Faro traffic circle. This second phase will be maintained for approximately one month and a half.
The last phase, with an estimated duration of two weeks, affects the section of Avenida Puerta del Mar uphill to the junction with Calle Francia. Traffic will be cut off at the access to Puerta del Mar from Cibernética, diverting traffic along Alemania street from Martín Méndez or Juan Carlos I avenue.
